The symposium seeks to place the traditions and original vision of Columbus into a national perspective through presentations and dialogue between professionals and communities.

The inaugural symposium, Foundations and Futures, was held in 2016 and drew an attendance of over 1,000 people from around the country. It featured international and community experts in design, fabrication, and education, and keynote speakers Deborah Berke, Robert A.M. Stern, and Will Miller in conversation with community leaders.
